Travelling allows our body and mind to experience a place in the physical and mental sense - with our five senses and think about it in ways that stay in our memory. What makes travelling to Bhutan so special is that it brings out another human dimension in me – the spirit dimension.
This spirit dimension allows me to reach beyond myself in search of a higher personal meaning. Our body and mind represent what we have, the spirit however, represents what we are. The spirit is not constrained by time and space or the here-and-now, rather, it transcends our physicality and represents our ultimate freedom.
My experience of Bhutan represents this freedom and is nothing short of being in awe. I am humbly and deeply enriched by its people who live a life with values that respect all other living things and the land they live in.
I am also humbly and deeply enriched by its rich and unique culture, and its religion of Buddhism which elucidates the way of living in harmony with ourselves and with nature. This way of living is best represented by our tour guide Pema, who passionately brings us on a journey of learning and discovery, without which I would not be able to appreciate Bhutan as deeply as I wanted to.
I am immensely grateful to have this truly amazing experience which I believe is only unique to Bhutan. It not only enriches my body and mind with new perspectives on life, but also enriches my spirit with conviction that meaning and purpose extend beyond my existence.
